informació
A crossing between sound creation and movement which proposes to early childhood a singular encounter with the instruments Baschet: indefinite sound sculptures, metal, sticks and inflatable assemblies that are built from everyday items but they escape from any conventional function to enter into an unusual sound universe. Baschet instruments alternate perceptive relations between shape and function, they become instruments that are impossible to catalogue and open a playful space of sound possibilities. Before whom children face a perceptive enigma as the object is present but it can’t be named of classified, its materiality is known but its sound behavior becomes unusual.
Luis Tabuenca is a composer and percussionist. His work explores the intersection between contemporary music and interdisciplinary performance. He holds a PhD in Fine Arts with a specialization in sound art from the University of Barcelona, and also studied at UCSD, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, ESMUC, and Zaragoza. He has presented his music in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, and recorded with labels such as Kairos and Mode Records. He has collaborated with Les Percussions de Strasbourg and others, and has received grants from BBVA, Fulbright, and other institutions.
Cristina Cubells holds a PhD in Humanities and works as a stage director on projects that connect theatre, contemporary music, and critical pedagogy. She currently teaches at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya and has lectured in theatre and philosophy of education at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid. She has directed projects such as Projecte Grimm (Sala Beckett and Teatro de la Abadía), Hi ha monstres que viuen per a la seva curiositat (Gran Teatre del Liceu, ÒHPERA), and Struwwelpeter: cruel tales to the ear (Palau de les Arts and Teatros del Canal). Her research and artistic practice explore children’s agency within the performing arts.
