Sound and Body Wednesdays in Arts Santa Mònica (September – November)

Festival Mixtur, Sâlmon and L’Afluent, in cooperation with Arts Santa Mònica is inviting different artists on a monthly basis to chart a path to various interactions between sound and the human body.

SESSIONS SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER:

  • 07.09.2022 Plom(a) with LaKT Ensemble. Teresa Doblinger (choreographer and performance), Anna Grenzner (cello and performance), Audrey G. Perreault (flute and performance), Maria Mogas Gensana (accordion and performance) and Víctor Morató (composition).
  • 05.10.2022 The electric body with Alex Tentor (electric guitar). More information
  • 02.11.2022 CIREROT  “ÂMAGO” with Albert Cirera (solo sax and objects).
  • 30.11.2022 Temazzcal with Aldo Arana (percussions), Mark Cunningham (trumpet) and Kike Bela (bass and synthesizer).
  •

By the origins of our species Sound and Body have been closely connected either in rituals, celebrations or purely artistic manifestations. Indeed, Sound awakens the Body the need to move, to express and to respond to external stimulus. On the other hand, our body can produce sound through human voice or drumming on itself to name just a few examples.

Festival Mixtur, Sâlmon and L’Afluent invites us to rethink and question the limits of this ancient connection from today’s perspective. Can Sound and Body become one same thing? What space would be reserved exclusively to one of them, whether that space exists? Where does possible end and impossible begin?
