This program focuses on the contemporary possibilities of sound. Ideal sound both in the countless contemporary and extensive technical possibilities of the instrument and in the semantic, historical and physical relationships of music with silence, silences, noise and the physicality of the gesture. Everything turns out to be a journey, a labyrinthine path that unravels between works now consolidated in the most current repertoire for saxophone quartet, the more didactic and compositional aspect and original pieces dedicated to the SSQ and written for this special event.

Biography

The SSQ was founded in 2020 with the aim of enriching and disseminating the contemporary and experimental repertoire for this ensemble, spanning from historical modernity to the most recent works, also with electronics. The Quartet has performed in important festivals such as Nuova Consonanza, Angelica in Bologna, Amici della Musica di Modena, Area Sismica. They collaborated with different composers among which Sciarrino and C. E. Cella. In 2022 they recorded their first cd including the first ever recording of music by Antonioni, Bussotti, Ceccarelli, Doati, Scodanibbio and Solbiati.
