The best way to learn about contemporary music is to immerse yourself in it and create new music. The Mixtur Festival offers Primary students and teachers an experience of listening to and creating contemporary music. At the La Sínia school, students work with the composer Xavier Pagès-Corella to create their own pieces, while at the El Sagrer school they collaborate with the composer Oliver Rappoport and the dancer Èlia Genís, combining music and movement. The resulting works are presented at the Mixtur Festival.

Biographies

Xavier Pagès-Corella. He studied piano, composition and conducting in Barcelona and Vienna. He has been director of Cobla Sant Jordi and is currently director of the Barcelona Modern Ensemble, associate director of the Catalan Chamber Orchestra and professor of composition and conducting at the Liceu Conservatory of Music. Among the prizes received are the 10th Andrés Gaos International Musical Composition Competition, the 17th Tarragona City International Musical Composition Competition and the Oare String Orchestra Composing Competition. All his music is edited on Influx Sheet Music.

Elia Genís Graduated in Choreography and Interpretation from the Barcelona Theater Institute and certified in the Feldenkrais Method by EuroTab. Interested in the link between movement arts and education, oriented towards contemporary creation in non-conventional spaces. He collaborates with artists such as Luis Tabuenca and Noriko Koshida in “Dreamtime” and “Ecologías disruptivas”. He is part of the company Magdalena Garzón with the piece “Profane altars”. He works in somatic education and creative processes, collaborating with various institutions, with a premiere for children at Mercat de les Flors in 2025.
