Composer Michael Jarrell discusses his music and explores the personal significance of the composing process.

Biography

Michael Jarrell studied composition in Eric Gaudibert’s class at the Geneva Conservatory, in addition to several stays in the United States (Tanglewood, 1979). He completed his training at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau, with Klaus Huber. Since 1982, his work has received numerous awards: “Prix Acanthes” (1983), “Beethovenpreis” de la Ville de Bonn (1986), “Prix Marescotti” (1986), “Gaudeamus” and “Henriette Renié” (1988), Siemens-Förderungspreis (1990).
