Through her constantly evolving work and radical, original musical language, Chaya Czernowin makes existential themes tangible for the audience while maintaining a common thread throughout. Her diverse oeuvre includes four operas, orchestral and chamber works, with and without electronics. Czernowin was composer in residence at the Salzburg Festival (2005/6), Lucerne Festival (2013), and Huddersfield Festival (2021). She has taught composition at UCSD, was the first woman composition professor at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and at Harvard University, where she teaches since 2009.
