In this recital the violin is explored and exploited as a medium that searches, lures in, seduces, attacks, jumps, cries, and sings. Featuring a world premiere by Irene Quero, commissioned by Mixtur, alongside works by David Moliner and others, the program highlights the violin as a versatile instrument capable of deep emotion and dynamic energy.
Biography
Carolin Widmann has studied in Cologne, Boston and London. She won numerous awards such as ‘Artist of the Year’ at the ICMA classical music awards, Schneider-Schott Preis of the City of Mainz and the Bavarian State Prize for her contribution to the Arts. She has played with Berliner Philharmoniker, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, London Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, Czech Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Spain, and Sydney Symphony Orchestra under conductors like Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Chailly, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Jurowski and Edward Gardner.
