From Schumann to Kurtág, piano literature has been filled with great gems in miniature form. This is the case of the latest Haikus by Casablancas and the recent Albumblätter by Jarrell. They are preceded by the brief and intense Solo by Bastien David, for prepared piano. In the second part of the program, the miniatures give way to a transvestite piano, first with electronics in the Blanche Series, one of Jodlowski’s first works for piano, where looping makes each layer add more intensity to an initially simple motif. And, finally, in TRAVS, where the pianist enters in a direct relationship with that percussive world that justifies the existence of his instrument. The piano is cross-dressed and merged with various percussion accessories, electronics and a MIDI electronic piano.
