Edith Canat de Chizy has a catalogue of 120 works. She was the first woman elected of the French Institute (Academy of Fine Arts). Violinist that studied at CNSM in Paris (first six prizes), she taught composition at CRR in Paris from 2007 to 2017. She has won numerous awards: Tribune Internationale des Compositeurs 1990, Symphonic Music Grand Prize from Sacem 2004, Charles Cros Academy Grand Prize 2016, SACD Music Prize 2021. She received commissions by Radio-France, Ircam and Orchestre de Paris, among others. She is Knight of the Legion of Honor 2008, Officer of the Order of Merit 2016 and Commander of its Order of Arts and Letters 2018.
