Joëlle Léandre is a French double bassist, composer and improviser. She has recorded more than 180 albums and worked with several artists like John Cage, Derek Bailey or Mathilde Monnier. Her performance with L’Itineraire, with L’Ensemble Intercontemporain and with 2E2M in Paris, and her book A Voix basse should be mentioned as some of her significant projects. Additionally, Léandre was a composition and improvisation visiting professor and the Darius Milhaud Chairperson at Mills College in Oakland, California in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
