From 9 to 19 October, Barcelona will be the meeting point for contemporary sound creation as it hosts the 14th edition of the Mixtur Festival. Over the course of ten days, audiences will enjoy a diverse programme featuring over twenty concerts and multidisciplinary performances, as well as lectures, masterclasses, round-table discussions, family activities and sound installations at renowned venues such as: L’Auditori, Palau de la Música, Fabra i Coats, ESMUC, the Museu de la Música, and Santa Mònica.
This year’s line-up features key figures from the international scene, including composer Manos Tsangaris, soprano Juliet Fraser, violinist Karin Hellqvist, composer Rebecca Saunders, improviser Franziska Baumann and saxophonist Joan Martí-Frasquier. It also features prestigious ensembles such as Plural Ensemble, Harmonic Space Orchestra and Ensemble Musikfabrik, as well as emerging projects and four new Mixtur commissions by contemporary composers.
The programme also includes a tribute to Luciano Berio, featuring performances of his Sequenze, and maintains the festival’s educational and social commitment by offering workshops and activities for children.
