information
ESMUC Ensemble is one of the great Catalonian Higher School of Music (ESMUC) stable ensembles and belongs to the Classical and Contemporary Music Department. The ensemble was set for the most advanced students with the aim to deepen and widen the knowledge of the most representative composers of the twentieth and twenty first century as well as the current trends. Students work on repertoire’s instrumental techniques and language with its music conductor Lorenzo Ferrándiz and they are part of the creative process of premiere works together with ESMUC young composers.
ESMUC Ensemble is coming back to Festival Mixtur since performing for the first time in the festival’s 6th edition. On this occasion the ensemble will perform a programme that includes two great contemporary music classic pieces: Third Construction by John Cage for percussion and Samoa, a piece that Morton Feldman wrote for the film American Samoa: Paradise Lost? The concert repertoire also includes: one of this edition commissioned works by Pablo Carrascosa Llopis and a piece by Tristan Murail who is one of the most important living composers and also a teacher of the Composition and Sound Experimentation Workshop.
