MIXTUR 2024
Program
String Fables
Improvisation
Jordina Millà, piano / Barry Guy, double bass
information
Barry Guy has a long experience in piano trios and piano-bass duos: from the Howard Riley Trio in the 1960s to the most recent trio with the phenomenal pianist Izumi Kimura and Gerry Hemingway. Jordina Millà is an important figure in the Catalan scene. Her music is original and distinctive, her way of transforming abstraction into lyrical sounds is absolutely unique and uncompromising. She is an ideal partner for Barry Guy: both can be extremely lyrical, sad and melancholic without losing simplicity or abstract complexity. “String Fables” (Fundacja Sluchaj! FSR, 2022) is their first album together, and in 2024 they released “Live in Munich” by ECM records.
