Artist, interpreter and researcher as in one, passionately keen on contemporary music, Matteo Cesari has played as a soloist worldwide. His musical career path has been enriched from Italy till the Conservatoire de Paris and the University Paris IV, where he obtained his doctoral degree with the highest honour, specialising in interpretation, research and practice, with his thesis on the interpretation of time in L’orologio di Bergson of Salvatore Sciarrino and Carceri d’Invenzione IIb of Brian Ferneyhough.
His passion for contemporary music leads him to collaborate with many composers and artists of our time. He has performed in the main concert halls and festivals in Europe and as a soloist he has performed with Ensemble Intercontemporain, BBC Scottish Orchestra and Guanajuato Symphony. Furthermore, he has collaborated with several orchestras and ensembles such as Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Ensemble Multilatérale, Ensemble Court-Circuit, Ensemble Sillages, Contrechamps and Nieuw Ensemble.
He has given numerous masterclasses and seminars organised by the Conservatory of Shanghai (China), Tokyo University of the Arts (Japan), Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) and University of London (UK). In addition, he teaches the interpretation of electroacoustic music at IRCAM and Pôle Sup’93 and as a teaching assistant in the composition class of Salvatore Sciarrino at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena in Italy.
He has recently released the complete recording of Salvatore Sciarrino’s solo flute works for Kairos.
Matteo Cesari will be the teacher of the flute Workshop for players Mixtur 2024.
The Workshops for Performers Mixtur 2024 is mainly aimed at students and professional performers, of any age and nationality, with interest in the performance of the current repertoire.
