informació
Luciano Berio has been one of the most influential composers of the 20th century and is a benchmark for current generations of musicians. Berio was a researcher of sound phenomenon from multiple perspectives. His musical research is characterized by the balance between a great awareness of European tradition as well as other world cultures and a propensity to experiment with new forms of musical communication.
Berio began an exploration in 1958 about the idiomatic potential of different instruments with his Sequenza I for flute. This series gradually grew until 14 Sequenze and exemplifies his composition approach as a potentially endless open comment and elaboration process that continues and proliferates from one piece to the next.
Festival Mixtur joins in the celebrations to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Luciano Berio. For this we have programmed the Sequenze from the Italian composer in different festival concerts played by students and professors from Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, as well as O King played by Ensemble Fractales and María Hinojosa.
In this concert, the performers will play three of Luciano Berio’s Sequenze. This will provide an opportunity to discuss the composer and his unique compositional language.
