information
Chaya Czernowin draws songs out of unpromising and uncompromising situations. Lines of friction through piles of waste and hazardous materials inspire the sounds of Ayre; for Fast Darkness III, it is a creeping vine gradually enveloping a house. In this concert, these negative spaces and poetry of absence are complemented by three new works by composers from Brazil, China and the USA: Rafael Godoi, Hao Ma and Sofia Jen Ouyang, the last a winner of Riot’s 2024 Call for Scores.
