information
The concert includes three literature works from XXI century for accordion and three miniature premiere pieces by Festival Mixtur Composition Workshop students. Works with contrasting aesthetics that display all the versatility of the instrument. Elena Mendoza builds a piece from materials that link in a fragmented way that come from the contemporary music literature, from french popular music or from jazz. The piece’s name Découpé refers to a technique from literary dadaism that consists of cropping a text to combine the different parts in another way resulting in another text to create new absurd and poetic relations. Joan Guinjoan began his contact with music through the accordion, this instrument allowed him to start to take his first steps in music Sounds of the earth was his first piece for accordion, consisiting of some folk songs variations. Adriana Hölszky`s piece High Way for One is an excerpt from a previous concert for accordion and ensemble. The accordion is used as a high-speed instrument that is steadily moving without ever stopping from the beginning to the end of the composition. She creates a dense, chaotic and violent atmosphere that recall a highway in rush hour with different techniques and articulations like tremolos, rapids, glissandos, repetitions, staccato, trills or scales.
