He completed his musical studies at the Barcelona Conservatory (with Carles Guinovart and David Padrós), in Geneva with Michael Jarrell and at IRCAM with Jonathan Harvey and Brian Ferneyhough, among others. In 2011 he received the Ernst von Siemens Prize for Composition and in 2007 the Donald Aird Memorial Prize from San Francisco and the Impuls Prize (Graz). In 2005 he unanimously won the Tremplin of the Ensemble InterContemporain and in 2002 the Musical Composition Prize of the INAEM. He has received many commissions and has written five operas in collaboration with various writers. His music is published by Durand/Universal Music Publishing Classical and by Tritó.
